Highland Single Malt Whisky is one of Scotland’s most renowned whisky styles, produced exclusively in the Highlands, the largest whisky-making region in Scotland. Made from malted barley and distilled at a single distillery, Highland single malts are known for their diversity of flavours, which can range from light and floral to rich, full-bodied, and slightly smoky.

The character of Highland whisky is shaped by the region’s rugged landscapes, pure mountain water, and traditional distilling methods passed down through generations. The duration of the Highland Whisky Day Tour is between 8 hours

Please check the distillery's website for further information, especially on seasonality: some tours and tastings are available only during the Summer season.

Some distilleries will be closed at the end of the season, and others will have a reduced opening during the winter.

The number of distilleries to be selected and visited on the day may vary depending on the tours/experiences/tastings booked, their times, opening hours, and travel between sites.

The Northern Highland is a vast region - an average car journey between distilleries is 30 minutes; in some cases, due to location and chosen itinerary, it can be up to 1h from Inverness.

It is highly recommended to contact us to discuss your requirements before booking all experiences, as you may want to include a more exclusive lunch and/or sightseeing along the way, and we need to manage times and logistics to check whether it will be doable or not.

Uilebheist Distillery (City of Inverness)

Uilebheist Distillery & Brewery is a unique and modern addition to the Highland drinks scene, located right in the centre of Inverness along the River Ness.

The name “Uilebheist” (pronounced ool-uh-vehst) comes from Scottish Gaelic and means “monster,” a nod to the legendary creature of nearby Loch Ness. What makes this place stand out is that it combines both a brewery and a distillery under one roof. Visitors can see the production process up close—from craft beer brewing to the early stages of whisky making.

Tomatin (Tomatin village)

It is a short drive from Inverness, around 25 min, the distillery was founded in 1897. It is known for its high-toned and fruity spirit.

The Visitor Centre is open 7 days from 09:30 to 17:30 in April through to November

Glen Ord (The Singleton) (Muir of Ord)

Located in Muir of Ord, on the edge of the Black Isle - 20 min from Inverness - the distillery is the home of The Singleton. The distillery itself is amazing, the tour is fantastic, and the deli with delicious local food is an invitation to have another dram or two.

The Dalmore (Alness)

Located in Alness, 25 minutes from Inverness, the distillery is renowned for its rich sherry cask finishes and rare expressions.
The Dalmore Distillery is open from April 27th for exclusive tours.

Glenmorangie (Tain)

Located in Tain, a 40 min drive from Inverness, the distillery. It is the most popular Highland whisky. Established in 1843, the site originally held a farm distillery under the name Morangie. Today, it is owned by the French group LVMH. Its stills are the tallest in Scotland.

Balblair (Tain)

Located in Tain, a 50-minute drive from Inverness, Balbalir Distillery is known as the Vintage Malt Whisky.

A typical day involves a visit to the local distilleries, whisky tastings, lunch at one of the great restaurants in the region and photo opportunities on traditional North Highland spots!
